Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact Review, Swatches

Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact

Hi Guys!

A few weeks back if you're on Twitter you might have noticed that I won a Clarins summer collection prize pack that I'm still shaking my head in disbelief over. It was a bigger prize pack than I was really expecting and greatly appreciate winning so I want to send a BIG thank you to Dave Lackie! I used to work for Clarins and at that time, Clarin's wasn't trying to be a big competitor with their makeup line but that has changed within the last couple years. Take for instance the unbelievably gorgeous Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact which looks like an incredible work of art. At first I didn't want to touch it but since I'm a bronzer fiend I decided that some things can't be left to just stare at! :P

Clarins Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact

Splendours Summer Bronzing Compact holds 3 shades of bronze to take your look from just a touch of sun glow to full out bronzed summer beauty. In the middle of the designed bronzer is a golden dazzling center which helps you control how much shimmer you would like your bronzed glow to have. Made of a Mineral Sunlight Complex and Light-Optimizing Complex, your skin will look natural and imperfection-free.

Price: $35 USD
Size: 0.70oz

Leaning on the very warm side, this bronzer is not sheer like Clarins mentions it is but the colour is very buildable and a little goes a long way! Since the colour is quite orange-red, this bronzer will look the best on medium to darker skin tones, which means I need to build a good tan so I don't look funny :P The center where all of that "shimmer" is so miniscule as you can see in my swatches. There is a slight sheen given to the skin but it's mainly matte. Application is smooth and the powder is finely-milled so I'm not left with any chalkiness or a cakey look. Overall, this bronzer lasted throughout my entire work day! For those of you second guessing this bronzer, for one thing for the price you are getting A LOT of bronzer at 0.70 oz, which is a lot more than you would get with other bronzers currently on the market. So that definitely would justify the price for me if I hadn't won this in a contest and was considering buying it.

Pixi Eye Glow Cube Lucent Lid Light Palette Review, Swatches

Pixi Eye Glow Cube Lucent Lid Light

Hi Guys!

I've been wanting to try Pixi for a long time and was upset I missed out on the Pixi beauty bloggers brunch that took place a couple months ago. Luckily, I was contacted by a representative for the brand to try out a few new products that were going to be available at Canadian Target stores and among them was the Eye Glow Cube - Lucent Lid Light. This palette was launched for spring but the colours included in the palette transition easily into any summer look.

To help assist you in achieving gorgeous metallic eyes that will work well during the day, the Eye Glow Cube is the solution. Packed with 16 eye shadows and 2 eye base powders in warm, daylight-hued shades, the Eye Glow Cube will get your eyes glowing in no time. The palette size is small and isn't at all heavy. My only issue with it was that the bottom drawer that holds the 2 eye base powders gets stuck every time I would open it due to the applicator sponges in it, so I would recommend that after you open it up to take them out so you don't have that issue anymore ;)

Coming into this, I didn't know what to expect with this palette and how their eye shadows would compare to some of my favourites. I was awestruck by how pigmented these metallic eye shadows are. The selection of colours is wide but very wearable for anyone. I wasn't completely sold though on the eye bases because they just didn't work well as bases underneath my eye shadows. I prefer using a cream eye shadow or primer as my base, but I liked using the champagne coloured shadow as a highlight on my brow bone. Overall, this is a really cute travel-friendly palette with a ton of eye shadows to choose from and small in size to boot. There's a nice selection of warm and cool toned shadows in it that will offer fair to dark skin tones lots of options.
